About the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative
The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative was founded in 2003. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for people dealing with sarcomas around the world. The Initiative increases public awareness of sarcoma, raises funds to award research grants, and provides support and timely information to sarcoma patients, their families, and medical professionals. These efforts are achieved through collaboration with numerous individuals and organizations that share a similar vision.
The Initiative's Volunteers
Our distinguished Medical Advisory and Editorial Board contribute expert articles and content for our website. The members of our Sarcoma Advocacy Advisory Committee, who have been affected by sarcoma themselves, share their insights and assist us with our initiatives.

The Medical Team
We rely on members of the medical community to help us support patients and advance research. Please:
Tell your patients about SarcomaHelp.org.
Subscribe to ESUN.
Write or translate an ESUN article.
Apply for a research grant.
Contact us to talk about how we can work together.
In 2008, the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative started a project called "The Faces of Sarcoma." We wanted the disease to be known by more than numbers, characteristics, and treatment protocols. The Faces gallery now contains more than 600 photographs, and we feature links to the gallery throughout SarcomaHelp.org.
Share Your Journey
Your writing can reach thousands of people who are dealing with sarcomas. Whether you have been diagnosed or care about someone who has, we believe that your story can help others.
Creative Expression: We welcome e-mailed submissions in the form of essays, poetry, photographs, and visual arts. Many of these submissions are highlighted throughout our website.
Stories of Hope: If you have completed treatment, please consider sharing your story to encourage and strengthen others.
Tributes: If you have lost a loved-one, please consider sharing a tribute that honors your loved-one and raises money for research in that person's memory.
Knowledge and Understanding: Sarcoma advocates and support leaders have published invaluable ESUN articles that are shared with patients every day. If you would like to publish an article that will help and inform others, please contact us.
Share Our Brochures!
Help us to share these informative brochures at events, conferences, cancer centers and doctor's offices around the world.
Join Team Sarcoma
Consider championing the cause of sarcoma awareness and research with Team Sarcoma. There are so many ways to get involved! You can:
- Represent Team Sarcoma in an event
- Host an event
- Contribute a portion of your business sales
- Partner with us to fund a specific kind of research
Contact us if you're interested in joining the team, and we'll be happy to help.
Wear a Bracelet
Thousands of people around the world wear "Sarcoma Knows No Borders" bracelets as a sign of support and solidarity. The background color of the bracelet is a swirl of a pathology slide of a sarcoma patient. The donations made for bracelets are used to fund crucial sarcoma research.

If you have creative ideas that will help us better serve the sarcoma community, or if you would like to volunteer your time helping with our website and outreach, we would love to chat with you!
We welcome your feedback and participation in the Initiative!
