Mary is a volunteer who serves as the Creative Director and Webmaster for the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. She is responsible for the design and publication of this website and for the Initiative's expansion into social networking. Mary entered the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative into the Facebook Causes Giving Challenge in January 2008, a competition in which the Initiative battled top charities to win $13,000 and increase awareness of sarcoma. Mary also serves at the Associate Editor of the Electronic Sarcoma Update Newsletter.
Mary was diagnosed with parosteal osteosarcoma in 2003 at the age of 28, and she found little information available about the challenges she faced. So she ventured into online support, founded the Adult Bone Cancer (ABC) Survivors website and support group, and connected with the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. She served as the Infrastructure Coordinator for the Team Sarcoma Initiative in 2008 and 2009.
Mary graduated with a BS in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. She has worked as an executive assistant, project manager, and a volunteer at the American Red Cross.
