Advice for the Newly Diagnosed
Dr. Murray Brennan: When the diagnosis of sarcoma is first made, the best advice one can give is: there is someone that can help. There is someone out there who understands your disease, who understands you, and can provide the best recommendation for treatment.
Right at the very start, it is crucial that the actual type of sarcoma be identified, and be identified by a person with great experience in that diagnosis. That alone predicts many of the outcomes. So there is someone that can help. It is important to get the diagnosis right. And a delay of a few days, or even a few weeks, is not important if it means the right thing can be done the right way the first time.
