When is a Clinical Trial not Right for me?
Dr. Richard Gorlick: Participation in a clinical trial is always the choice of the patient. And I think if a patient is not comfortable with what is being asked in that clinical trial, that is certainly one reason not to participate. Certainly if the addition of the new agent or the experimental arm involves a significant burden to the patient, either an increased duration of treatment or need to travel in order to get that therapy, the patient has to balance whether they think the benefit of participating in the clinical trial outweighs both the issues of risk as well as the issues of convenience. And certainly sometimes those issues, particularly in agents that have less established track record, may not be worth it.
