The Benefits of Humor
Nurse Denise Reinke: As I think about what one thing I can bring to patients as I care for them as they're diagnosed and managing through treatment for sarcoma, the thing that people tell me most often is helpful is to be able to maintain a sense of humor: to find a way to find something to smile about, to laugh about. When you're walking a road where things are very serious, sometimes scary, having someone who will laugh with you just brings a release of tension and can really make you feel less threatened, less frightened, and able to better deal with the very serious things in front of you.
