Running in Memory of Beth Foresman Smith
Beth and Gretchen
October 28, 2012: Washington, DC
Greetings everyone! My name is Gretchen Walter. My dear friend Beth Foresman Smith was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma in April 2011. After a long and courageous year of brain surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy, she lost her battle with sarcoma on June 2, 2012. Beth leaves behind a beloved husband, Rick, and a 2 year old son, James. In addition to her close family, Beth had many dear friends whom she loved.
Beth was an inspiration to those who cared for her and loved her, but the
amazing thing is that she never thought of herself that way. She was in awe of the love and support that people gave to her. She lived with faith, hope and love.
I would like to give you the opportunity to do something in the memory of the legacy that Beth left.
I am running my first marathon, the Marine Corp Marathon, October 28, 2012. I am doing this run in memory of Beth and also as a way to raise money for the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. The Initiative works to fund research on sarcomas.
Please consider giving a donation in memory of Beth to show your love for Rick and James and to help those who currently live with sarcoma.

About the Initiative
The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative works to award sarcoma research grants to expert investigators around the world. The Initiative maintains an extremely low overhead of 2-3% per year. Thus, 97-98% of the funds we receive go directly to support sarcoma research. Our partners and champions work with us to raise much-needed funds and can choose to target those funds toward research on specific types of sarcomas.
All donations made on this page are received by the Initiative's payment service, Razoo Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) charity. Razoo keeps a 2.9% processing fee and then ensures that donations are disbursed to the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative, a Collective Giving Fund within FJC, a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit Public Charity and a Foundation of Philanthropic Funds. As such, donations on this page are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by United States law.
