April 20-22: Rummage Sale ~ In Memory of Christie Rufener Campbell
Randolph, Ohio: This special event will benefit sarcoma research in memory of Christie Rufener Campbell. A local sarcoma survivor, Charlie Wise, will be honored at the event. Donation drop-off days will be April 16-19th. Visit the event's Facebook page for more information.

January 29th at 2:30pm: Wendy Walk Spinning Event
New York City: Throughout her battle with cancer, Wendy has found that being active is the best way to keep up her hope and energy. Join us in supporting her by spinning at Flywheel on the Upper East Side. Rides are $40 each, with all proceeds benefiting sarcoma research
January 21st: Bi-Coastal Sarcoma Ride
Lakeland, Florida and North Hollywood, California: Team RAAM Sarcoma will hold simultaneous fund-raising rides on opposite sides of America, a “Coast-to-Coast” effort if you will. The Team will raise money for the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative and for the RAAM effort, which they hope will also raise awareness of sarcoma. The RAAM crew chief is currently in an ongoing battle for his life with sarcoma.
January 18th at 7:00pm: Wendy Walk Cocktail Hour
New York City: Join the Wendy Walk Committe in in their efforts to increase sarcoma awareness. A free drink is included with your $20 donation, and there will be $3 drink specials all night. Registration and payment will be accepted at the door of the Magician at 118 Rivington Street in Manhattan.
December 24: Hike for Mike 2011
Phoenix, Arizona: Come and hike with friends of Michael Lio on what would have been his 25th birthday. Hikers will meet at 9050 North 40th Street at 9:30 a.m., and a two hour hike departs at 10:00 a.m. A reception hosted by the Lio family will follow. Donations of $5.00 receive a Strike Out Sarcoma wristband, and donations of $20.00 receive a Strike Out Sarcoma t-shirt. 100% of donations go to the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative for Ewing’s sarcoma research in memory of Michael Lio. December 12: Run for Anna
Sacramento, California: Jennifer Cotter will run in the California International Marathon in memory of her niece, Anna Rogotzke.
December 3-4: 24 Hours of LeMons Race
Buttowillow, California: Melissa and James represented Team Sarcoma in the "24 Hours of LeMons" race. The race is for cars that were purchased, fixed up, and track-prepped for a total of $500 or less. These total pieces of junk race in a 24-hour endurance race, broken up in two days.
October 16: Debra Harding ran the TUI Marathon in Mallorca, Spain on October 16, 2011. She ran in memory of her sister, Susan Buys Jordaan, who fought nyxofibrosarcoma (MFH at the time) for three years and lost her fight on December 17th, 2004. Debra raised 1000 Euros ($1,289) towards sarcoma research, and she hopes to help families affected by sarcoma in the future.
September 24: Team Sarcoma Keepin' it Kevin - Bike/Walk/Run
East Petersburg, PA: Our hope with our Keepin it Kevin events is to raise awareness and funds to beat this disease and fund new research. Our first event, a bike/walk/run held in East Petersburg in 2010 hosted 80 people and raised $5,000.
September 17: Halfway to St. Patty's Day Happy Hour
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Many thanks to the 120 people who gathered to have fun and raise money for clear cell sarcoma research in memory of Steve Byrne. This special night included food, music, Irish dancing and an auction. The group raised $6,800 for research!
September 10: The Fourth Annual River Region Open Car and Truck Show was held on September 10, 2011. Four of the major car clubs in the Montgomery region team up for the event. More than $1,000 was raised by the GM High Performance Car Club for sarcoma research in memory of Michael Lio.
August 13: Strike Out Sarcoma Night at Chase Field
Phoenix, Arizona: This event raised $8,000 for sarcoma research and was covered in the local news. Players on both teams wore "Strike Out Sarcoma" wristbands, and more than 200 people attended as a part of the event. Strike out Sarcoma has now raised nearly $90,000 for sarcoma research!
August 6: Be A Hero: Team Sarcoma 5k
Waco, Texas: The 3rd Annual Be A Hero: Team Sarcoma 5K in Waco, Texas was held on August 6, 2011. Involving just more than 240 participants, the Waco and Central Texas communities raised more than $9,100 towards sarcoma cancer research grants. The event once again highlighted by the 1K Family Run which was led by an energetic and fun-loving cast of costumed superheroes. The Be A Hero 5K began in 2009 in honor of Andrew Moore, now age 11, who had been going through surgeries and chemotherapy for a sarcoma cancer. Andrew continues to do well and reminds us that anyone who fights cancer is a true a hero to us all.

Penang, Malaysia: Join us for team-building games and fun at Youth Park!
July 23: 3rd Annual Run/Walk for HOPE
Huron, Ohio: The Jim Hauser Sarcoma Foundation hosts this annual event that offers fun for all ages, along with t-shirts, refreshments and door prizes. A portion of the proceeds will benefit sarcoma research through the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
July 23: David Dearing Memorial Swinging for Sarcoma Golf Outing
Florence, Kentucky: Swinging for Sarcoma will be hosted on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Boone Links Golf Course by Amy Dearinger and friends. This event is open to everyone, so please feel free to invite your friends and family. All proceeds of the benefit will go directly to the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
July 22-24: Team Raven Lunatics Event - donate in their honor!
This small group of ultramarathon bicycle racers will ride to increase sarcoma awareness and raise funds for research in the Race Across Oregon!
July 17: A Night with Ike Davis
Brooklyn, New York: Tickets included dinner, drinks, entertainment, t-shirt and one limited edition Ike Davis signed item! More information can be found on the second page of the event flyer.
July 16: Lancaster Barnstormers - Sarcoma Awareness Night
Lancaster, Pennsylvania: This Saturday night baseball game was dedicated to sarcoma awareness, and there were fireworks! A portion of the proceeds from the event benefited the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
July 10: Strike Out Sarcoma Run/Walk
Burke, Virginia:
As part of her quest to achieve the Girl Scout "Gold Award," Emily Nagel had to show leadership and create and execute a project from start to finish all on her own. She chose to plan a "Strike out Sarcoma Run/Walk, because her Mom was diagnosed with sarcoma. The event raised $3,700 for sarcoma research, and more than 200 runners participated, including several cancer survivors!
June 25: Kenny Allen Memorial Ride for Sarcoma
Mancelona, MI: This Harley ride raised more than $24,000 for chondrosarcoma research last year. This year's ride was covered in the local press.
May 7: Wendy Walk - New York
New York, New York: The Wendy Walk Liposarcoma Foundation was formed by the children of Wendy Landes to support her when she was diagnosed with liposarcoma. The first three Wendy Walks in 2010 raised more than $225,000 for liposarcoma research!

April 30: Adrianne Fortese Pfeiffer Dance for Sarcoma
Dickson City, Pennsylvania: Enjoy a dance to support sarcoma research at the Dickson City DAV from 8:30pm to Midnight. Admission is $5.00 and the public is invited. There will be light snacks, a cash bar and a basket raffle to benefit the Sarcoma Initiative.
October 17: Spaghetti Sunday Fundraiser & Silent Auction
Phoenix, Arizona: This dinner, raffle and silent auction was held to benefit Ewing's sarcoma research at St. Stephen's Cathedral Hall.
October 16: Fundraiser for Clear Cell Sarcoma
Winslow, New Jersey: This evening of wine tasting, hor d'ourves and music by Tom Brett celebrated the life of Steven Byrne. The event took place at the Sharrott Winery on Saturday, October 16th, from 6-9 PM. All proceeds benefitted the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
October 2-3: Team Raven Lunatics
Santa Clarita, California: This four-person recumbent bicycling team represented Team Sarcoma in the Furnace Creek 508, a 508 mile race that travels through the Antelope Desert, Death Valley National Park, and the Mojave Desert.
September 11: River Region Open Car and Truck Show
Montgomery, Alabama: The GM High Performance Club raised funds at this event to suport sarcoma research in memory of Michael Lio.
September 12: Dinner in the Fields
Cranford, New Jersey: The Second Annual Dreyer's Farm "Dinner in the Fields" benefitted the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. It was held Sunday, September 12th, at 4pm. Read more about the event in the Cranford Chronicle.
September 18: Alcatraz Swim for Sarcoma
San Francisco, California: Heather Robinson and Debbie Minter "Swam for Sarcoma" in the 15th Annual Alcatraz Invitational.
July 2010: 3rd Annual Soccer Round the Clock
Jackson, Michigan:
The family of Logan Brasic, a sarcoma survivor, planned this incredible event that was featured in the local press. Hundreds of people battled the elements that ranged from blistering heat to torrential downpours to play 24 hours of soccer! Approximately 600 people were involved, and $5,000 was raised for sarcoma research.
July 2010: Strike Out Sarcoma Night
Phoenix, Arizona: The family and friends of Michael Lio have raised more than $27,000 in a series of events leading up to Strike out Sarcoma Night in Phoenix. More than 150 people attended the evening baseball game, and the event was covered in several different media outlets.
June 2010: Kenny Allen Memorial Ride for Sarcoma
Mancelona, MI: This Harley ride raised nearly $23,000 for the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative in memory of Kenny Allen.
Live entertainment, raffles and an auction followed the ride.
April 2010: The Wendy Walk
Los Angeles, Miami and New York: These walks were held in three major cities on the same day and raised more than $225,000 for sarcoma research. The events were created and organized by Ali, Matt and Jackie Landes, to support their mom, who has liposarcoma.
July 2009: Be a Superhero: Team Sarcoma 5k
Waco, Texas: Benjamin, the brother of a sarcoma survivor, planned this event, where more than 350 turned out to race through the streets of Waco. The local news covered the story on video, and nearly $10,000 was raised for sarcoma research.
July 2009: A Night of Tumorous Comedy
Denver, Colorado: Sara Alan, a sarcoma survivor, planned "A Night of Tumorous Comedy" to benefit sarcoma at the Bovine Metropolis Theater in Denver. The show was featured in the Denver Post and in an online local magazine, The Examiner. There was a near-sold-out crowd, and about $1,000 was raised for sarcoma research through the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
February 2008: The Facebook Causes Giving Challenge
Online: Mary Sorens, a sarcoma survivor, entered the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative into the Facebook Causes Giving Challenge. The online contest challenged charities to find the most donors who were willing to give just $10 to their cause. More than $17,000 was raised and an additional $13,000 was won in the challenge to support sarcoma research.

Choose an activity that will interest your community, and choose a time of year that works best for you. You can even target the donations you receive toward a specific type of sarcoma research through our renowned Research Grants Program. Help us change the world for everyone facing sarcoma!
How does it work?
Planning a Team Sarcoma event is an incredibly rewarding experience. It provides an opportunity to do something hopeful in the face of a difficult disease. As a team leader, you will choose an activity based on your interests and the interests within your community. Common choices include:
- picnics
- walks and runs
- bicycle and motorcycle rides
- letter-writing campaigns
When you contact us about Team Sarcoma, we will talk with you about your personal connection to sarcoma, along with your wishes and creative ideas. We will provide:
- Literature, graphics and videos for you to use at your event
- Suggestions and ideas based on our past experience with similar events
- Tips on communicating and marketing your event
- "Sarcoma Knows No Borders" bracelets for everyone who makes a $5 donation at your event
- Promotion of your event on our website, and a published article after the event that describes your accomplishments
- Information about our research grants program and tax status, along with guidance about accepting donations
